Does your company have a job opening in Europe? If so, there’s a good chance your existing referral program is about to get torpedoed.
With GDPR enforcement less than two months away, keep a watchful eye on this topic. Unfortunately, based on conversations I’ve had in recent months, large numbers of companies are completely unprepared to navigate these coming regulations.
For those who have taken the time to research GDPR, some things are known, such as: that companies are now going to need to collect consent from candidates (as it relates to the candidates’ data); companies must give candidates the ability to access the data the company has on them; and, that companies must now give candidates the power to edit and delete the information the company has collected.
Readers would be amazed to learn how many different ways different companies are handling this. Furthermore, readers might be surprised to learn where the vulnerable aspects are in their recruiting processes, leaving them at risk for incredibly damaging penalties and fines so severe they are capable of putting companies out of business.
