Amazon couldn’t have liked the bad press it got from a recent letter from a temp/contractor saying “the revolving door of new hires encourages low quality work, inconsistent productivity, and wastes useful resources on training.”
It’ll get better ink today, though, as the company says it is creating 5,000 new full-time jobs in its fulfillment network.
Healthcare benefits and 401(k)s, the company says, begin on Day 1, and “median pay inside Amazon fulfillment centers is 30 percent higher than that of people who work in traditional retail stores.”
Amazon opened eight eight fulfillment centers in the U.S. last year. Jobs are now open (see this website, though it’s running slow for me right now perhaps due to increased traffic) in California, Indiana, Texas, South Carolina, Delaware, Tennessee, Arizona, Delaware, Kentucky, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
