Sure, the list of companies pulling together information on candidates from around the Internet and packaging it together for sourcers and recruiters is long. Tools and technologies doing something like this include Gild, Dice, Entelo, TalentBin, HiringSolved, 3Sourcing, RemarkableHire, and more.
But from what I can tell from my quick look at its offerings today, a startup called Connect6, quietly in beta, may end up being mentioned in the same breath as these others.Connect6 is setting up shop not in Silicon Valley but near “Silicon Beach” — loosely speaking the part of Los Angeles I mentioned that some are using to refer to LA’s tech scene.
The startup was founded by the sames folks behind LiveOffice, a “cloud archiving” company acquired by Symantec.
Essentially what it’s up to is aggregating information on people — job candidates being people — from social media, networking, q-and-a, and other websites, and putting them together in the form of profiles that can be searched by potential employers. Connect6 says it has 500 million “social profiles,” and isn’t limited to technology employees.
As you see from the screen shot at the right (click to enlarge), you can search by skills, location, sources (like Github or Google+), schools, and companies, and get profiles of people who meet your criteria.

What’s a little different than at least some of the other tools, is — and some of this depends on what you pay for — that you can use Connect6 to contact people, and you can also use it to post/distribute jobs. So you enter a job description in Connect6, and send it out to job boards, and use a little back-end system to manage the applicants. Once you’ve got your pool of candidates, you can ask them to load up an interview-question response, or a video.
Dean Nicolls, a cofounder, tells me the company has six employees, and is self-funded.
