New Climb to Find Passives…

Online employment matchmaker Climber.com says its personalized employment match system and high-tech approach to recruiting can land busy professionals the “position of their dreams — without the time and hassle of the job-search process.”

Climber’s chief executive Mike O’Brien explains that these professionals “can’t spend hours and days on traditional job search sites or working with brick-and-mortar outplacement firms. So all too often they continue working in a job they like, and put off looking for the job they’ll love.”

O’Brien says the process is akin to “Dating for Jobs,” with members setting up a profile and taking an assessment to identify their CareerFingerprint (what they want from their employer).

Climber.com says it is currently adding about 5,000 members a week, but the catch is that recruiters must pay a fee to access the database. Only time will tell if this information is matching companies with the best of the passives, or climbing a dead-end road to the usual suspects of active online job seekers.

New ‘Standout’ Challenges Online Job Space…

StandoutJobs.com says it is “changing the face of recruiting,” and it has newly padded reserves to prove its point. The Montreal-based startup just scored C$1.5 million in investor financing.

The startup’s three founders think the job market is broken; online job sites don’t work; hiring people should be an ongoing process, and hiring people is about having conversations, not bureaucracy.

Keep a close watch on this company once the site officially launches this summer.

Another company flipping the paradigm of what a job board should be, Northern California’s NelsonJobs.com says it has re-launched itself as an “employee-friendly job-finding portal” that will give every job seeker personal follow-up from one of Nelson’s job placement experts within 48 hours.

Jigsaw’s Marketing Piece…

Jigsaw Data Corp. has appointed Susan Chenoweth as vice president of marketing.

Chenoweth previously worked at Taleo as group vice president of global marketing, responsible for Taleo’s worldwide marketing strategy. She has past experience at Netscape, Microsoft, IBM, and Tandem Computers.

Chenoweth calls Jigsaw “one of the most exciting success stories in the Web 2.0-era of user-generated content” with more than six million business contacts.

The San Mateo, California-based online database for business contact and company information was launched in 2004. Jigsaw says its long-term plan is to map “every business contact on the planet.”
