Whale Path recently completed a study of how employers find new hires and reported that a majority of Americans making less than the median U.S. annual compensation of $50,502 actually found their jobs offline!

Here are some of the statistics that jumped out from their research:

  • Only 7 percent of jobs paying $25 per hour or less are filled through online sources;
  • Personal referrals account for 46 percent of hires for positions paying less than U.S. median income, up from 41 percent in 2008;
  • More than half of the employers surveyed cited Craigslist as a low-cost resource for finding and hiring employees.
