What Is Job Fit Really About?

presented by Paul Basile

sponsored by Taleo

In this webcast, we will show what the most important components of fit really are – the factors that matter in a person’s on-the-job performance. We will demonstrate how these factors impact performance. We will show what can be done and is being done to increase the likelihood that everyone in every job – not just new hires – has a high degree of fit with the position. We will describe specific steps to take, including time commitment, budgets and resources, to achieve the objective of high quality, high performing employees more likely to remain in the organization where they fit best.

Companies hire great candidates or people they judge to be great candidates. But the hiring decision doesn’t always work out. People leave jobs fairly readily; in the US, nearly half of new hires are gone within 18 months. And when people leave they do it for reasons of “fit”: lack of fit explains the failure of a person in a job in 81% of cases; skill is the reason just 11% of the time.

Fit matters. But what is fit, really? Cultural affinity? Employee alignment with the organization’s strategic direction? Stylistic topics like dress code or concierge services or can-I-bring-my-dog-to-work?

Paul Basile, CEO of Matchpoint Careers and a veteran business leader and H.R. expert who has lived and worked in five industries in seven countries, will share insights, examples and the validated science that offers practical solutions to today’s recruitment dilemmas including how to assess and obtain job-person fit.
