Ryan Malone, CEO of SmartBug Media, was told that an all-remote workforce might work for a few employees, but not if he hit 10. Later, as his company grew, he was told it might not work if he had 20. Now, he’s up to 75 employees, and they’re all still remote.

All remote has worked for a number of other companies, like one I talked about before called Amira Learning. It’s working at SmartBug, and in the 21-minute talk below, Malone talks to me about why and how.

He walks me through SmartBug’s hiring process, the video that job candidates create, screening, 1-10 scoring, and peer reviews/reference checks with SkillSurvey and Checkster.
