Assessment is not something exotic or unusual. It is just another word for making a judgment based on evaluating the situation. That is, every time you evaluate an applicant using a test, resume, or application form, you are making an assessment about whether the applicant is job-qualified. So, unless you hire everyone who applies for a job, by default, you are engaging in assessment.
Now that you know you are engaging in assessment, don’t you think it’s a good idea to know what’s accurate and what’s not? Common practices like the unstructured interview produce results that are about the same as chance while job-related tests and exercises can go as high as 90%. In addition, we have personality inventories, intelligence tests, cases and exercises. Do they really work? If you are a hiring manager or recruiter you need to know which end of the spectrum you’re at. Join this webinar to learn a whole lot more about assessment technology.
