Take another Look at Spock

posted by
Simon Meth (219)

Way back in May and June '07, I wrote here about Spock, a beta people search application. Since then the good folks at Spock have been hard at work expanding the capabilities of the site. If you want to find out about someone, just search for them on Spock and you'll find all sorts of useful information about the over 1 billion people there. Some records are quite extensive because Spock allows you to manage your information. You can find links to other sites such as LinkedIn, MySpace, Facebook, Digg, and del.icio.us. Additional results from the Web are now powered by Google. And of course, for all those sourcers out there, you can search for people too. A quick search for "san diego" recruiter brought up about 300 results. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Do you want to come on the Recruiting Animal Show and talk about Spock for 20 minutes. Maybe this Wed, maybe another Wed? Always at NOON EST.

Is there 20 minutes worth of talk in this?

Hi Animal,

Thanks for the invite but not this Wednesday. Maybe expand the topic to include all people search engines such as pipl and others?

Thanks again,

Simon

Hey Simone,

That's interesting. Of course they can't have everyone since they only have 1 Billion people. I ran the following searches:

Australia: 2,000,000 hits, Nicole Kidman was first!
Sydney Australia: 203,600 hits, Justine Larbalestier was first
Simone du toit: 3 hits, none of them are you

Thanks,

Simon
