But for those of you who can’t make it to the event in person, we have some exciting things planned for you on Thursday and Friday.

In addition to streaming the keynotes, general sessions, and several of the breakout sessions live, and at no charge, we have teamed up with Steve Boese and his popular HR Happy Hour radio show to bring you a world-class virtual experience. The live streamed programming will be available right here on the ERE.net homepage.

HR Happy Hour Live from ERE Expo will feature conference speakers, recruiting industry leaders, and some special guests for discussion, commentary, and ‘web-only’ exclusive programming. The special live streamed HR Happy Hour broadcast will give the viewer a ‘behind-the-scenes’ look into the ERE Expo, and will complement the numerous keynotes, sessions, and panels that will also be streamed live.

Make sure to clear your schedule for Thursday and Friday so you don’t miss any of the excitement from San Diego. The stream will run continuously starting at 8:15 a.m. PT on Thursday and 9:15 a.m. PT on Friday. During the lunches and breaks taking place in San Diego, HR Happy Hour Live from ERE Expo will fill the gaps with special programming.

This year, you will find some new ways to participate in the Expo, including a way to submit questions directly to the speakers during the sessions — both via email and phone. Everything will be taking place at www.ereexpo.com/2010fall/live/, so make sure you bookmark that page!

So if you aren’t able to make it out there, you aren’t entirely out of luck.

We kick off on Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. PST! You can view the entire agenda and what will be streaming here. And if you can still get yourself to Seattle on Monday, there are some spots left.

Of course, we can’t recreate everything for you on the stream, such as the great networking and impromptu discussions that are bound to break out, however we can provide our audience with at least some of the great content that is being delivered at the event.

Live Stream Schedule – NOTE: All times on Monday, September 13 are PST

9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. – How Social Media has Impacted the World’s Top Productivity Suite

This is the fourth #socialrecruiting summit, and this one will have an even great emphasis on results and tried & true case studies from actual recruiters who have implemented social recruiting tactics into their strategy.

The stream will take place on the top of the ERE.net homepage through Ustream. There is nothing that you will need to download; just come to the site on Monday morning, shortly before we kick off the event at 9:00 a.m. PST, and you will see the box. You just need to click the play button and you will be all set. There is also a chat component there, so you can talk to others watching the stream, and even those in attendance in Seattle.

You will also want to check out Twitter for more great conversation from the event by following the #socialrecruiting hashtag and the @socrecruiting handle. Past events have featured well over 1,500 live tweets during the event, much of which are from those in attendance, so this is another great way to join the conversation even if you can’t make it to Seattle.

On July 13, ERE community members will be coming together across the globe to attend a series of local meetups. These meetups will be locally run and organized by the people attending them. To date 94 cities across nine countries featuring 600 people will be coming together to meet and network. Want to see what is going on near you just click here and sign up!

We have finalized our 2010 fall events schedule, and everything will kick off with the fourth #socialrecruiting summit. Following up on a highly successful event last month in Minneapolis, we will be heading out west on September 13 at Microsoft’s Corporate HQ in Seattle. This event, which will break through the social recruiting hype and bring you real-life case studies that are currently in use at companies, will feature Chris Hoyt from Pepsico as the chairman. Learn more at http://socialrecruitingsummit.com.

We just announced last week that the next SourceCon event will be taking place on September 28-29 at The International Spy Museum in Washington, DC. I am pretty sure you will be hard pressed to find a cooler venue for research and sourcing professionals to learn and play than the Spy Museum, and a better group of speakers to learn from.

Capping it off will be the annual Fall ERE Expo, once again returning to the beautiful Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood, FL from October 26-28. Featuring over 30 corporate recruiting practitioners and thought leaders, you won’t want to miss this year’s event. And you can save $400 on the registration fee through July 16. Visit www.ereexpo.com for all the details.

For the past few years we have teamed up with Jason Corsello and Knowledge Infusion for their annual Future of Sourcing & Recruiting survey. If you haven’t already, please take a few minutes to take the 2010 Knowledge Infusion & ERE Future of Recruiting and Sourcing Survey, and share your perspectives to help the talent acquisition community better understand and navigate this challenging environment.

If you are in the recruiting ad agency space, time is running out to apply for the 2010 Creative Excellence Awards (CEA). The CEA has been recognizing excellence in recruitment advertising for over 30 years and this Friday, July 2 is the deadline to apply for this year’s awards. If you haven’t already, check out the full list of categories and apply online at http://www.ceawards.com/2010/.

The past few weeks have also been very exciting around our parent company, ERE Media. Earlier this month in Las Vegas at the annual Fordyce Forum conference, we announced that Amybeth Hale will be joining us as the new Editor of The Fordyce Letter. The Fordyce Letter, which ERE Media acquired back in 2006, has been delivering its monthly newsletter for over 30 years, and now features additional content online at www.fordyceletter.com. Many of you may already know Amybeth, who has applied her eight-plus years in the recruiting and sourcing world by writing for both The Fordyce Letter and ERE.net in the past, and has been the editor of SourceCon’s The Source newsletter. If you are on the search and placement side of the business, you will certainly want to check out what Amybeth has planned at FordyceLetter.com.

About a week and a half ago we quietly turned live our newest media property, TLNT. This site is something you will want to tell your colleagues in your HR department to check out. It’s covering comp, benefits, training, and all HR management issues — aka “The Business of HR.” The site is edited by John Hollon, who until recently was the Editor of Workforce Management magazine & workforce.com.

If you have any questions about what I have posted above, please leave them in the comments or drop me a line. Have a great week!

If you are reading this on ERE.net today, you will notice that our colors and design this week will reflect those of our site-wrap sponsor, ResumeBucket.

As we have said many times before, without the generosity and support of our sponsors we wouldn’t be able to continue what we do week after week for our community.

So we want to thank ResumeBucket for their support. ResumeBucket is a site where jobseekers can post their resumes and employers can search the database for free. If you think you may be interested in what they do, check them out and you can thank them as well for their support of the ERE community.

Next Monday, a few hundred recruiters are set to gather in Minneapolis for an industry discussion on social recruiting at the third #socialrecruiting summit. But if you can’t make it (and there are still 18 spots left as I write this), you aren’t totally out of luck.

As we have over the past few years with ERE’s events, we will be streaming the event live here on the ERE.net homepage for free for those of you who can’t be in attendance. We kick off on Monday morning at 9:15 a.m. CDT! You can view the entire agenda and what will be streaming here.

The goal for this event is not to tell you WHY you should be using social recruiting tactics, but to help you learn HOW you can successfully implement them into your recruiting function. Our session leaders will all share stories from their successes (and things they have learned from their failures) that have all been tried at their organizations — organizations like Best Buy, Facebook, Principal Financial Group, DAXCO, AT&T, APCO Worldwide and Marriott, among others. You can see more about all of our session leaders here.

The event will also feature several unconference sessions, where the agenda will be shaped directly by those in attendance… and you. While these events won’t be featured on the stream, you can still submit topics of interest to you and the industry. You can also snag one of the remaining few spots at the summit as well. To submit your topic idea, just enter it into the form here:

Loading…

The stream will take place on the top of the ERE.net homepage through Ustream. There is nothing that you will need to download; just come to the site on Monday morning, shortly before we kick off the event at 9:15 a.m. CDT, and you will see the box. You just need to click the play button and you will be all set. There is also a chat component there, so you can talk to others watching the stream, and even those in attendance in New York.

You will also want to check out Twitter for more great conversation from the event by following the #socialrecruiting hashtag and the @socrecruiting handle. The past two events featured well over 1,500 tweets during the event, much of which are from those in attendance, so this is another great way to join the conversation even if you can’t make it to Minneapolis.

So make sure to clear your calendar for Monday, as this is certainly something you won’t want to miss. And if you able to make it out on Monday, there are still (at least as I post this) a few tickets left to attend.

Sign up for this week’s free webinar on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. ET, Going from Good To ‘Elite’!: Becoming an Elite Recruiter, led by David Szary from the Recruiter Academy. David will discuss the competencies, skills, attributes and work habits of elite recruiters.

We are just a week away from turning San Diego into the recruiting capital of the world as hundreds of recruiters are set to converge on the city for SourceCon and ERE Expo 2010 Spring. If you aren’t able to make it there in person, make sure to keep your schedules clear next week as both SourceCon and ERE Expo will be live streaming many of the sessions right here on ERE.net. Visit the websites for times and agenda information and stay tuned for more about which sessions will be streamed.

You can also follow and take part in the conversations taking place in San Diego on Twitter by following @ereexpo and the #ereexpo and #sourcecon hashtags.

Just last week we announced that the third #socialrecruiting summit will be taking place at Best Buy HQ in Minneapolis on May 17. Join the conversation at the only event which cuts through the hype to tell you not WHY you should be using social recruiting tactics, but to help you learn HOW you can successfully implement them into your recruiting function. Check out the agenda and session leaders today at socialrecruitingsummit.com and reserve your spot today. Don’t wait too long, space is limited and the summit has sold out in the past.

For those of you on the search and placement side of the business, you will want to get yourself to Las Vegas from June 9 – 11 for the fourth annual Fordyce Forum. Brought to you by our sister publication The Fordyce Letter, this is the conference for big billers to talk about how to consistently earn five and six-figure fees. Check out all of the information and book your spot at www.fordyceforum.com.

Sign up for this week’s free webinar on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. ET – The Art of Identifying and Recruiting Passive Candidates: Next Generation Search, led by Krista Bradford. Krista will share her secrets of this next-generation search so you can fill searches faster, better and more affordably.

If you are on the search and placement side of the business, check out the just announced agenda and speaker roster for the fourth annual Fordyce Forum 2010 taking place in Las Vegas from June 9-11. Over fifteen big billers and industry experts will share their success strategies on how to increase your billings and improve your process. And register by Friday to lock in the $400 early bird discount.

On the events front, both SourceCon 2010 & ERE Expo 2010 Spring are quickly approaching next month in San Diego. SourceCon, the premier sourcing event for our industry takes place March 14-15. Corporate recruiting leaders are getting ready to converge on San Diego for the 10th annual ERE Expo on March 15-17.

During breaks at the Expo in San Diego, we’d like to show some of your videos. Make a 1-minute or shorter video of you telling your favorite recruiting story — it could be the most heartwarming advice or experience you’ve had, one that made you proud of the profession — or, it could be bad behavior by a candidate (or a manager!) during an interview, an employer brand gone awry, a botched recruitment ad campaign, or something else. Email Todd Raphael (he prefers PG-13 or cleaner) the Youtube embed code and we’ll pick some of the best to show at the upcoming conference.

If you have questions about any of this, please post them in the comments below. Have a great week!

I am excited to bring you the first Peak at the Week post for 2010! Here is what is going on around the ERE.net world:

Sign up for this week’s free webinar on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. ET: Talent Acquisition in 2010: A Look at Emerging Trends led by Dr. John Sullivan & Master Burnett.

Have you started making your spring conference plans? Once again, San Diego is going to be the place to be this spring, hosting not only the 10th annual ERE Expo 2010 Spring conference, but also SourceCon.

ERE Expo is fully revitalized this spring, featuring a new track for small and mid-sized businesses and 15 brand new speakers who have never spoken before at an ERE Expo conference. If you haven’t already, check out the full agenda and speaker list, and find out about the early bird discounts still available at www.ereexpo.com.

Back in October, we acquired SourceCon, the only conference dedicated solely to the sourcing and research community. We are now gearing up for the return of SourceCon, taking place in San Diego from March 14-15. Many of the best and brightest sourcers will be there in a rare chance to hear the secrets of those who spend their time finding those who don’t always want to be found. And, until January 29th, save $300. Check out all of the information at www.sourcecon.com/2010.

If you aren’t one of the nearly 300 people headed to New York City in a few days for Monday’s #socialrecruiting summit, you aren’t totally out of luck. As has become standard for ERE events, we will be streaming the event live here on the ERE.net homepage for free for those of you who can’t be in attendance.

Social media is rapidly becoming more than just another tool in a recruiter’s toolbox — it’s an important part of the future of the talent acquisition profession. The goal the summit is to have an industry conversation about these tools, and talk about tactics and strategies that are already in the field and working, not pie-in-the-sky ideas. And even if you can’t make it, you can still participate in that discussion.

The stream will take place on the top of the ERE.net homepage through Ustream. There is nothing that you will need to download; just come to the site on Monday morning, shortly before we kick off the event at 9:30 a.m. ET, and you will see the box. You just need to click the play button and you will be all set. There is also a chat component there, so you can talk to others watching the stream, and even those in attendance in New York.

You will also want to check out Twitter for more great conversation from the event by following the #socialrecruiting hashtag and the @socrecruiting handle. The event in June featured over 1,500 tweets sent that day alone, mostly from those in attendance, so this is another great way to join the conversation even if you can’t make it to New York.

As I mentioned, the day starts at 9:30 a.m. ET as our summit chair Laurie Ruettimann kicks off the day, and introduces our keynote speaker Fred Wilson at 10:00 a.m. ET. Fred is the venture capitalist behind many of the names you know on the Internet such as Twitter, Indeed, del.icio.us, and many others. From there the day, which goes through 5:15, will feature sessions led by recruiters who have actually already proved success using social recruiting tactics in their recruiting strategy. Check out the full agenda here.

So make sure to clear your calendar for Monday, as this is certainly something you won’t want to miss. And if you are in and around the NY area or can get there on Monday, there are still (at least as I post this) a few tickets left to attend.

With the Columbus Holiday and the short week for many here in the States, there will be no webinar or Fordyce TV episode this week. However, a few things to check out:

We just finalized the details for our 6th annual Recruiting Excellence Awards program, and we are now accepting applications. This is your chance to share how your recruiting success is helping your business — and in many cases furthering the recruiting profession. We are currently accepting applications in nine categories, and the winners will be announced at our annual gala ceremony & dinner in San Diego on March 15. Get all of the details and start your application at www.ereawards.com. Also, Todd Raphael has a copy of DaVita’s (successful!) application from last year. Shoot him an email at todd@ere.net if you want him to send it to you.

Speaking of San Diego in March, the awards ceremony & dinner will be taking place in San Diego in conjunction with the 10th annual spring ERE Expo conference. This year’s event will feature a brand new speaker faculty, highlighted by several speakers who are making their ERE Expo speaking debut. And make sure to register by October 30, to take advantage of the $500 early bird discount.

If you are looking for something sooner, we are just about 1/3 of the way to selling out the next #socialrecruiting summit taking place in New York City on November 16. If you are already using or considering using social media tools in your recruitment strategy, then join the conversation taking place at this one-of-a-kind recruiting industry event, the follow up to the first summit which sold out this past June. Find out all the information and reserve your spot today at http://socialrecruitingsummit.com.

On Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. ET over on our sister site, Fordyce TV returns with a brand new episode. If you are on the search and placement side of the business, you won’t want to miss Neil Lebovits share his Internet marketing secrets for recruiters. Grab a few easy tips to keep your name in the forefront of your candidates’ minds without making update calls.

Activity is picking up on jobs.ere.net, with over 20 jobs posted in the past week. If you are looking for your next opportunity, make sure to check back often. You can also follow job postings in the ERE Daily email newsletter, and on Twitter by following @recruiting_jobs. And if you are looking to add a recruiter to your team, there is no better place to post the position than on ERE’s job board.

Last week, we added several new sessions to the upcoming #socialrecruiting summit agenda including Cindy Nicola from Electronic Arts, Susan Burns and a very exciting keynote address led by Fred Wilson, the venture capitalist behind many of the names you know on the Internet like Twitter, Indeed, del.icio.us, and many others. The follow up to our first summit which sold out last June, will take place in New York City on Monday, November 16. There are only a limited number of spaces available so make sure to reserve your spot soon. Check out the agenda and more information about this exciting conference/unconference at http://socialrecruitingsummit.com.

Also last week, we added several new speakers to the agenda for the upcoming Spring ERE Expo taking place March 15-17 in San Diego. Joining the brand new speaker faculty include speakers from Lockton Companies, AT&T, Starbucks, RSM McGladrey, Dolby Laboratories, DAXKO, Ernst & Young and many others. And make sure to reserve your spot early to take advantage of early bird discounts that can save you up to $500 on your registration feel.
