Community Guidelines
We’re glad you’ve decided to be a part of the ERE community. ERE is a diverse community of recruiting professionals coming from different types of backgrounds, experiences and companies.
This is great for the community but it means that there can be issues when people disagree. When in doubt about a guideline, being respectful of the people here and giving your fellow community member the benefit of doubt helps make this a better place for everyone.
Here are some things that can help you along the way:
- Speak your mind — This is especially important to us. Even unpopular ideas are welcome at ERE. Personal attacks, copyrighted material and spam aren’t.
- Use your real name — Using real names helps keep our community full of real professionals who want to talk about recruiting issues. Stand behind what you say.
- Prepare for others to agree and disagree — Especially on controversial topics. If you feel overwhelmed at the idea of this, you should probably pass on posting about it.
- Leave out the slurs, insults, and stereotypes — It isn’t clever, just boring and unoriginal. We don’t care if you saw it on a Chris Rock or Jeff Foxworthy routine either.
- Bullying and harassing others isn’t cool either — We shouldn’t have to say it but we will. Disagree with the opinion, not the person.
- Limit how you promote yourself or your product — Keeping it to your profile is what we expect. Advertising through the community without adding any value is ineffective at best, spamming at worst.
- Don’t post the same thing multiple times or to multiple groups — This always comes off as spam so just don’t do it.
- Promote good content — If you see something you like in the community, vote it up and comment on it. If you don’t like something, you can vote it down as well.
- Groups and blogs are self-moderated — As long as none of our site-wide guidelines are being broken, groups and blogs are the responsibility of their owners. They’ve worked hard to shape the community.
- If there is an issue, let us know — We try to read everything we can but with a community this large, we need help. If you see something fishy, report it to us via flagging or e-mail.
Here is our commitment to you:
- We will act promptly — If you have an issue, you should expect it to be resolved. We have multiple team members available to take care of any issues.
- We won’t change your content — Your content is yours and is your responsibility.
- We will only remove content when we have to — The law requires us to remove certain type of material at all times. In addition to this, we will also remove content that doesn’t fit with our guidelines or terms of service.
- We will consider any decision carefully — We aren’t perfect and you may not always agree with us, but we take our community very seriously and our decisions are final.
We’ve tried to keep things extremely simple here so that you could actually read through them. If you have any questions, feel free to send them along to lance@ere.net and we’d be happy to clarify anything.
