I think this is a little bit fishy too, with EmployMedia and Direct Employers maybe each having different reasons to prefer a foggy state of awareness about what is going on.

“Why has .jobs chosen DirectEmployers Association to lead this project?,” is a good question. One potential answer that EmployMedia may wish to minimize is that .jobs was facing viability concerns and saw a white knight...after all, DirectEmployers can just get domain names like the rest of us if they wish....but in a white knight role, they can get claws on the whole thing....

Which gets to the point I have on the whole subject of DirectEmployers; nothwithstanding that helping anyone get a job right now is a realy important thing to do, how does the mutant spawn of America's Job Bank, a Frankenstein entity long-drained of any (at best modest) value, morph into a giant collusive collective controlling its own private labor and advertising markets ?

I don't like any of it. I don't like the non-profit status, I dont like the intensity of mutual competitive data on hiring and candidate activity, and I dont like the whole unsupervised Wild West feel of the thing.

And I dont like Mr. Craig Schwartz's flip view of his organization's responsibilty either. Being a decent citizen, corporate or otherwise, means we all have to do some policing from time to time.

I do like John's skilled reporting on this and I hope he keeps at it...

So if the agreement between them is not exclusive, does this mean other job boards can approach EmployMedia?

By opening up the domains like this its apparent that the original idea is being re-purposed. So why not let other entities like job boards take part?
