Still waiting on Adidas. Meanwhile, Fidelity has gone live with a new careers site, which has been many months in the making. It’s most proud of the “Meet Our People” section of videos; there’s a link to that part at the bottom middle of the site. Let me know what you think of it.

I always thought those “Meet Out People” sites were places they put people they’d like to see leave.

Maureen – you couldn’t have said it any better. My first thought when I read this was that I wish one of our competitors would do the same so I could have a nice little bio on some folks that I could recruit to us! :)

It’s a good-looking site. Well-designed, and fairly straightforward to navigate. I like the videos (it’s too bad there would be any fear/concern/hesitation over poaching due to videos…*chuckle*)
What I wonder though, is why it took “many months” to build / launch? There’s a fair amount of content, so I suppose content creation can take some time. But even video production can be done extremely quickly.
In this day and age, I don’t think it requires many months to put much of anything on the Web, let alone a career site.

We have been using video to give filed engineers a glimpse into the job, culture and company for years. The content has been helpful to candidates once they get to our site. But, a search for “field engineer” on search engines and video sites produced NO Schlumberger video results. We wanted to do more with social media and use the video outside of our site. We used the Career Corner Video Network to distribute the videos to their network of about 40 partner sites, including Veoh.com, VirtualJobShadow.com, Youtube.com, MetaCafe.com and others. Remarkably, our field engineer videos are a top search result and people are embedding the video on blogs, job boards, and sharing on social networking sites, especially amongst the field engineering community.
This strategy allows for candidates to find and share the videos on search engines and on Career Corner’s network. Video SEO and an embedded link back to our field engineer career site resulted in over 63,000 video views (nine times more than on our site) and a click through rate to our career site of around 11%.
Here’s some links to our videos.
