Thanks for sharing your thoughts.  I think you make some really interesting points about what you can learn from the outgoing messages people leave on their answering systems.  You are right about the wealth of information people make available about themselves.  

But, I also think you make some big leaps in your judgments of people.  Assuming you meant May 11 to May 15, it is not a safe assumption that because the voice message is still there several days later, she skipped work due to a &quot;vacation hangover&quot;.  Could it be that she simply forgot to change the message back?  I have seen this happen many times in my career, and I don&#039;t make the assumption that my coworker is &quot;cheating the system&quot;.  I assume it was an honest mistake.

I would encourage that you not rush to judgment based on information that could so easily be misleading.  That is, unless your rush is to assume that most people intend to do the right thing.
