		<description>I have been engaged in a number of EFCA risk assessment reviews for companies in the midwest.

 The democratic controlled congress and the OBAMA administration are looking to pay back their powerful union friends who put them in office. The only way EFCA is stalled right now is Sen Specters about face in his recent announcement to drop his support of the bill. 

As the Democrats seek to add to their majority in the fall elections, they will again bring pressure and will probably have enough votes to overide the republican senate base. Write you congressman! YES.....but in the meantime follow Marks advice and seriously start fixing your employee relations environment.  Here is what you need to focus on:
 Leadership management practices
HR Policies and Procedures
Training
Communications
Overall Job Security
Equipment
Benefits
Leadership interpersonal skills
Workload/distribution of work
Recognition of job well done
Working conditions
Input on decisions impacting job
Staffing levels
Pay
The Bottom line:
Effective union avoidance is created by systematic performance improvement through:
Training and development of effective supervisors
Addressing key employee concerns on a regular basis
Creating a high performance organization

		<description>I find it interesting that in hard financial times this type of legislation seems paramount. I really don&#039;t understand why our legislators would even be considering this act because of what has happened to the auto industry. The auto industry is one of the most highly unionized industries in the country. Clearly unionization did not work for them. So why would any legislator think the Employee Free Choice Act a good piece of legislation? Unionization severed a purpose when employee rights were in large part overlooked, namely The Industrial Revolution.  Today employee rights are governed by the FSLA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII, and other legislations overseen by government entities. Sure workers do need the right to organize so that we don’t go back to the time when labor laws were non-existent but unionized labor forces have been failing in recent years; primarily in the auto and airline industries. The only reason I can think of to justify pushing this bill through is, if a legislator received campaign contributions from the unions. Then our legislators are no longer acting for the people but special interest group who fun their campaigns.
 I agree with Todd and have contacted my legislators in regards to this piece of legislation.</description>
