Another thing I find helpful is to write down and send back what the client requests, and then (for new clients) offer to do a small, no-charge pilot project before committing to a larger one. If correct, the charge for the pilot project can be included in the final work. If not correct(able), minimal resources are expended in wrong directions. Overall, this both minimizes misunderstandings/wasted resources and builds customers&#039; trust/respect. I have found that managing customers&#039; expectations at the beginning of the process is a strong positve factor toward success.
