		<description>Just got &quot;How We Compete&quot; - by MIT prof. Suzanne Berger - in the mail. Looks really good ... her premise is that:
 &quot;cheap labor is not the answer; there are many different ways to win in the global economy, and that the avenues open to American companies are much wider than we ever imagined.&quot; 

Not exactly an edge-of-your-seat summer thriller but today (I seem to be on a lot of business book publisher lists) someone sent me &quot;background screening and investigations: managing hiring risk from the HR and Security Perspectives.&quot; Actually looks like a good overview.

Totally unrelated to recruiting: I just finished a short, wonderful book  called &quot;Rescuing Sprite&quot; - if you have a dog, read it. A really touching book.</description>
