There is a coat of information available in this article. I know that diversification plays a key role. "Diversify your resources"--Isn't that what we are told? How do we diversify and stay consistent in our efforts to succeed when we use ten different methods of ie transportation? It seems if we really had a choice we would pick one or two and call it a deal. Boy I hope those one or two are good decisions.

Another option is to provide employer subsidized shuttle bus services from high traffic mass transit stops to the place of work.

Employers who do so both encourage the green agenda & make it easier for employees who would otherwise drive to work participate in gas-saving options.

I like your idea of making lemonade from lemons and turning the current economic environment into a positive for your company brand.

This “we care” attitude can be extended to a wider environmentally friendly agenda. Some companies use a “green” agenda in their marketing – so why not in your employment brand?

This is especially important for graduates. I recently wrote a post on “How to appeal to the green side of graduates” which contains many practical tips companies can implement now to show how they care for the environment. Take a look: http://blog.advorto.com/blog/2008/06/green-recruitin.html
