Hey, great article.

Have any of you used JobAlarm.com? I received a promotional email yesterday and posted a new job for a QC Manager. We began getting responses immediately. Can you tell me if they sustain candidate flow?

Mark, I believe it takes relationship building over the long term; it requires a certain 'commitment' on your part and a willingness to stay within an industy for the long term - consequently, I also believe it commands higher remuneration in exchange for your devotion. And devotion is what it is.

hi maureen,

great article. i love the parody of fishing and sourcing. i must ask however, what additional advice would you give those who are fishing in the 'deep sea' almost all of the time? you say it takes more effort, which i agree. but, can you share any tricks of the trade? thanks!

Hi Maureen,

Nice article!!! I always likened this topic to that of developing the farm team, or leaving the apple on the tree until it is ready for harvest. Reaching out and establishing a professional relationship early in a candidate's career can reap placement success and referrals in the future. True, we all like to live for today, but if you are in it for the long haul, build your talent base and relationships by reaching out today.

Best, Charlie

'... most lists lose 20% per year ...'

That would be a half-life of about 3 years.

You think it might be even faster than that usually?
