You&#039;re talking about writing skills here and that seems like strangley vague wording to me. I wonder if anyone else had trouble figuring out what you meant.

Ask the candidate for the due date.  
Ask the candidate when she will have it ready. 
Let the candidate decide the date of submission.
Let the candidate set the date of submission.

These non-passive formulations seem more directly meaningful to me.</description>
