Take 401k's and add HSA's to create portable benefits packages, mix in a culture where mass layoffs to control costs and we have created a culture where employee loyalty is dramatically becoming more mercenary.
I would at to Kevin's list two culture-based points:

Promote a culture that respects and values well-rounded employees, that recognize they have lives and interests outside the office. Usually called work-life balance. The companies that pried themselves that is is not so much a job as a lifestyle are going to lose.

A-players like to work alongside other A-players. Slugs can come cheap, but cost far more on the back end than hiring the all-stars.

I read this article with interest.
Tell me , who is an employee today and who an employer. I am no longer surprised to find extremely 'hardcore' managers who talk of employee loyalty and commitment going down the dumps, themselves in another company the next day !
Where do we draw the line , when even CEOs are on the job-hop mode!
Is is just a live-in model thats currently doing the corporate rounds ? Would love to hear the views of others on this ....
