Monster said Tuesday it has formed an alliance with Adicio, a provider of online classified advertising software for more than 200 newspapers.

Carlsbad, Calif.-based Adicio’s existing clients can now use Monster’s tools and resources to post employment ads or even engage in a full co-branded partnership.

This announcement is another step toward Monster’s plans to increase “localized points of distribution across the country, which is a key component of our strategy to drive market share, particularly among the small and medium-sized business segment,” said Doug Klinger, president of Monster North America, in a release.

Monster started this localization strategy with its announcement, in August 2006, that it would co-brand with Philadelphia Media Holdings (parent company of the PhiladelphiaInquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, and Philly.com).

Since then, Monster has announced partnerships with the Akron Beacon Journal and the New York Times, among others. The alliance includes nearly 50 daily newspapers and eight television properties.

The arrangement is not exclusive to Monster, according to the Associated Press, meaning that Adicio’s existing newspaper clients could still choose to work with Yahoo! HotJobs, CareerBuilder, or others.

As part of the deal, Monster says its customers will be able to purchase print advertising from Adicio media partners later this year via Monster’s new “click to print” service, to transform online ads into print.

Adicio will handle technology support for media companies choosing to work with Monster, and will coordinate implementation and integration, including data conversion of resumes and employer accounts.

Neither company disclosed financial terms of the deal.
