I am not sure how many of you are familiar with the SCAMs and MLM type companies out there, but they crave Monster accounts because they can find tons of people to call and talk them into "buying in" to what they have to offer, which is usually a scam product or service anyway. Maybe Monster could focus more on the people looking for positions to provide a better quality of candidates by not scaring the good candidates off the board because of getting phone calls and the like from companies such as these.

For example: We did a research project in class with our students about two years ago. 47 students posted on Monster resulting in 892 phone calls over a 4 week time frame. Out of those 892 phone calls, only 104 of them were from legitimate companies. The other calls were from MLM companies etc, producing annoying phone calls and emails and out of the 47 students who did post, only 5 were likely to post again.

This tells me that the smaller companies or even indivuals are not prohibited at all, and some of them should be. How would you like to be a candidate called on by bad companies or individuals all day long when you post? It makes even the good calls look bad because you can hardly tell the difference.

Great article by the way

Monster would be out of business without MRI and the U.S. Navy. Their prices are rising and there is no value added service they are giving for the rising cost. They have forgotten how they got to where they are with recruiters. They target the big agencies and companies and make their service prohibitive to the smaller individuals out there.
